Cupcake Hunt in NYC

Who does not love treat? I know that many of the Fordham students, such as myself, love heading to the city for a day not only to wander around the streets of New York, but also to see what new bakeries and shops have installed for their customers. My friends and I wake up on a Saturday morning, not only to enjoy the free time but to appreciate the New York life as well.

Students can take a break while exploring the Harlem at Tonnie’s Minis. It is a great small cupcake shop located at 264 Lenox Avenue. You can create your own cupcakes, choosing from velvet cake to crème cheese frosting with coconut crumbs as a finishing touch, this is definitely the place to be. Walking down to the Madison Avenue, you’ll find another delightful cupcake shop named Eleni’s. It is located at 1266 Madison Avenue. This is a perfect place to shop for a delicious dessert if you are going for a walk in the Central Park. Keep walking down along the Madison Avenue’s neighbor, Lexington Avenue, and you will find another cupcake shop – Sprinkles Cupcakes. Located at 780 Lexington, this shop is a perfect stopover if you want to do a little shopping on Bloomingdale’s by 60th Street and Lexington Avenue. If you are willing to do a little more walking, another cupcake shop is nearby on 973 2nd Avenue, just 8 blocks away from Bloomingdale’s. If you want to get away from the Mid Town and hang around the trendy Lower East Side, you can make a quick stop at Sugar Sweet Sunshine on 126 Rivington Street. If you want to enjoy the sceneries of New York skylines and watch the view from the Brooklyn Bridge, then the Tribeca Treats is for you. Located less than 4 blocks away from the Brooklyn Bridge, Tribeca Treats is a perfect pit stop for a rest to enjoy the balance between New York scenery and New York lifestyle.

If you do not enjoy the Lower East Side but love the West Village, don’t fret because Amy’s Bread at 250 Bleecker Street can be your stop. If you are passionate about the LGBT social injustice issues, West Village has a large community that focuses on gay rights. If you are in New York for the very first time, and want to be the tourist you’ve never played, you can take a walk at the Times Square and wander around the new New York Times building after a quick stop at the Cupcake Café located at 545 9th Avenue.

No matter what you have in your mind, New York City is filled with dolce you’ll enjoy. Even if you do not go to these specific cupcake stores, there are chain stores such as Crumbs and Magnolia Bakery that are located through the city. Just beware, once you have these cupcakes, you’ll crave for more, leaving a hole in your wallet.
