Gimmie! Coffee

For my second coffee excursion I decided to head to one of New York's hidden gems, Gimme! Coffee. Gimme! Coffee has three cafes in New York City as well as four cafes spread out upstate. On a chilly, fall Saturday I headed up Fordham road to the D train and took it to the Broadway-Lafayette street station in lower Manhattan. From there it was a mere few blocks to Gimme!, which is located at 228 Mott st, between Spring st and Prince st.

The Mott st location is a small hole-in-the-wall espresso bar with no seats inside. Even without a place to sit, however, Gimme! is a warm, inviting shop with nice, talented baristas and delicious espresso. Like most espresso bars, Gimme! serves the usual array of coffee and espresso drinks. If you're in the mood for espresso, I recommend a straight shot, a con panna, or a macchiato, all of which Gimme! makes excellently. If you're feeling like having something a bit more milky, the lattes, cappuccinos, and mochas are all great too.

Gimme! is also committed to sustainability and fair/direct trade. You can ask any of the baristas where your coffee is from as well as pick up some free pamphlets about their coffee varieties. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask! The Gimme! staff are knowledgeable and helpful and would be happy to answer your questions. Definitely check it out!
