Fordham's Psychology Department

Whether or not you come into your freshman year with a major declared, each student has to have a major declared by the spring of sophomore year. Once you declare a major, your major’s department will most likely be your second home on campus. In my personal experience, this has certainly been the case! After taking an introductory psychology course, I fell in love and decided to major in psychology. This has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Everyone in the psychology department is lovely. The staff and professors are all extremely kind and knowledgeable. The professors, who are all extremely accomplished experts in their prospective fields, absolutely love talking about their research interests and class lectures. I love spending my time learning from and conversing with such individuals. Now that the time has come for me to start looking at graduate schools, the psychology department has been an invaluable source of information to me.

One of my favorite aspects of the psychology department is the amount of research that the faculty members conduct. Almost all of the professors are currently working on research projects and gaining new knowledge that furthers the field. Students have the opportunity to work on a faculty member’s project while still at the undergraduate level! I am currently working on a research project with a faculty member. This experience will look great on my graduate school applications. However, the best part about my research assistant position is the undergraduate research grant I’ve just received! Now, I can enjoy learning more about clinical psychology while I receive funding.

No matter what major you choose, Fordham’s departments are all welcoming, helpful, and academically stimulating.
