Live Nation Club Marketing Internship

As a business student, it's important to attain hands-on experience by interning at various companies to decide on your future career. Last semester, I worked as the club marketing intern at Live Nation. I found the internship through Fordham's Career Services, which contains countless internships/jobs targeted specifically to Fordham students.

I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed the experience! Twice per week, I ventured into their Times Square office where I learned quite a bit about the music industry and general marketing practices. My responsibilities included researching upcoming events and area businesses to promote shows for two venues: Gramercy Theatre and Irving Plaza. Interestingly enough, I spent the majority of my time on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms where I checked to make sure artists were doing their part to promote their shows. Additionally, I printed and mailed out posters and flyers to all the show venues.

I never realized how much work goes into concert promotion and how simple flyers, coasters, and giveaways could dramatically improve ticket sales. While the job could get tedious at times, like when I had to stuff thousands of bags with flyers and entering in e-mails, my efforts really did go a long way and were always greatly appreciated. Plus, I received academic credit through Gabelli for my work with show tickets and I even sighted a few celebrities in the office. My favorite memory was putting up flyers all day at Roseland Ballroom and then going later to see Kaskade in concert.

Probably one of the best advantages of Fordham is that internships can be done during the school year. While some of my fellow interns were studying in NYC for only the semester, Fordham students can have internships year-round and it's pretty easy to create class schedules that allow this.
