Photography!

From film to digital and from architectural to portraits, there are many different types and mediums of photography.

Fordham has extensive classes for photography – intro to digital and film photography to documentary, large format photography, and more. These courses are not only offered in fall and spring semesters, but are also offered during summer courses! For those students who want to go abroad for the short-term programs, Fordham also offers a photography class in Japan during the winter break and a trip to Italy for the course in summer!

But classes are not the only way to improve your photography when you live in New York City! New York is the greatest city (in my opinion) to improve your photography. There are countless photography studios situated (who hires interns!) and offers workshops! International Center of Photography offers weekdays and weekend courses, not only for photography, but programs that are helpful to photographers (such as Adobe programs).

If you think you have enough skills and knowledge, test it by applying to different internships! Hearst Publication’s Studio D often hires interns (who are interested in publication) and so does Magnum Photo. If you are more interested in fashion photography, don’t fret! Pier 59 and Milk Studios do hire interns too! They are the big names when it comes to fashion photo studio!

Of course these are just some of the BIG NAMES that are located in New York! If you want to get to know the “behind-the-scenes” for photography used in publications, you may apply to different magazines (Conde Nast Publications and Hearst Publications’ headquarters are located in New York) as an intern for the photo department!

  1. Style is definitely a amazing area in which a skilled individual, with a lot of creativeness, should stimulate. If this is your interest, you should definitely go a phase further and create a profession in this area. Maybe, in only a few decades, you will be able to see your name in the best fashion publications; who knows

  2. Great post. Photography is one of the areas where you have to be a scientist as well as an artist.
