Parks and Rec in NYC

It is November and the darkness approaches faster than a day in summer. Perhaps you would like to spend some time soaking in the sun in the city, without getting harassed by the skyscrapers and buzzing street life! Visiting parks in the city is one of the must-do things as a Fordham student. It is incredible that in a city such as New York has numerous parks all over the city for the citizens to “get away from the zone.” Of course, the Central Park is a well-known park, being introduced by Hollywood movies and several tv series. But, how would you like to explore those minute parks in the city?
Perhaps you could try visiting the Madison Square Park, located on Broadway and 23rd st! It is a great place to get away as it has benches and seating area as well as a dog park! For some, it is a resting place during lunch as there is a Shake Shack booth! Just be aware that the line can be pretty long.

Another park you could try is the Liz Christy Community Garden on E. Houston and Bowery. It is a very tiny space, but you will appreciate the space as a place where you can get away from the city!

Or you could try a bigger park nearby! The Tompkins Square Park, located in the middle of East Village of E. 10th and Avenue A, consists of dog area, playgrounds, and various courts for sports!
