If you have a passion for fashion, Fordham is the school for you! With full access to
our Lincoln Center campus, and a close proximity to the heart of the fashion industry,
fashion-goers can take advantage of all the opportunities the city has to
offer. This fact played a huge
role in my college process; I knew Fordham was the right place for me when I learned
about Fashion For Philanthropy. Fashion
for Philanthropy, FFP, is an on-campus club that promotes creativity,
philanthropy, and makes the fashion world accessible to the Fordham community.
FFP primarily raises money for the Make a Wish Foundation,
along with other charities. The
strong efforts made by the executive board are highlighted in the annual fashion show;
last year, FFP raised over $7,200 for the Make a Wish Foundation. These exciting fashion shows are
composed of student designers and models, and donations made by high-profile
sponsors, such as Henri Bendel and Longchamp. Not only are members heavily involved with non-profits and
on-campus events, but also are scoring impressive internships and job
opportunities off-campus with companies such as Michael Kors, Burberry, Theory, Elle, Longchamp, and Vogue.
To help members find and gain such opportunities, the
executive board hosts career and résumé building events. Members work closely with Fordham’s
career services to receive job/internship/volunteer opportunities exclusive to
FFP members. For example, FFP
members were made aware of the Lucky Shops event, hosted by Lucky Magazine, a Condé
Nast Publication. This high-energy
event, located in a SoHo event space last December, was by far my favorite
experience thus far at Fordham. Each
year, Lucky Magazine hosts this three-day event, which highlights new fashion
trends by shopping promotions. Vendors
set up booths, hold “flash sales,” have interactive media, and special VIP
guests make appearances (last year’s was Jennifer Hudson!). I was able to work with Lucky
Magazine staff, as well as designers and vendors. This is just one specific example of a multitude of awesome
experiences FFP members have each year.

What FFP can do for you: This club provides many chances to network with alumni and contact advisors that will help with any needs in regards to career planning,
and it initiates quirky outings, such as red-carpet events at talk shows, that normally
seem out of reach to the average college student. Visit the FFP blog (to which I
