FYF-The Way to Shape Your Freshman Year

                   

 During my freshman year, First Year Formation (FYF) was definitely one of my most enjoyable experiences. I benefited a lot from it and it helped me to make many new friends. Sponsored by New Student Orientation and the Office of Student Leadership and Community Development, First Year Formation is an extension of the summer and fall orientation programs. The program helped me to get involved in the Fordham academic and co-curricular community, and explore my own identity as well as the University’s distinct Jesuit identity. The symposium met once a week on Wednesday afternoons for the fall semester. We also had a few, less formal reunions during the spring semester.

The symposium consisted of a small group of approximately seven freshmen, and was taught by a Student Affairs administrator with the help of a New Student Orientation Leader. Students were engaged using a variety of techniques including group discussions and service learning activities. I found the trips to Museum of Natural History, New York Botanic Garden, as well as many other places to be a lot of fun. I also won free Ram Van tickets and movie tickets during our enjoyable games!
