Navigating College Dining with Dietary Restrictions

Navigating college can be difficult for everyone, but it can be even trickier when you have dietary restrictions.  Having to make all decisions concerning eating on your own (possibly for the first time) while choosing from limited cafeteria options may seem daunting, but as a type 1 diabetic with my own restrictions, I've learned that with a little extra planning it can be done!
At Fordham, there is registered dietician on campus who can be very helpful for learning how to navigate Fordham's "food scene."  All students can schedule a meeting with her, where she will help you learn to navigate Fordham's dining services through your particular lens.  By being able to access nutritional information and ingredients, you can determine what foods meet your requirements.
Also, I recommend learning about each of the different eateries on campus.  While one may not offer many options that fit your dietary needs, another may be able to provide you with the perfect options!  By finding several "safe" options around campus, you'll always be able to make a smart choice.
By making use of available resources and doing a little extra planning, you are able to make smart and healthy decisions that fit your particular needs!
