Nourish Your Faith with Campus Ministry!

            One of my favorite groups to participate in at Fordham has been Campus Ministry. Filled with a warm and welcoming group of students, Jesuits, and ministers, Campus Ministry has numerous events and student-run groups that are great for students of all types of religions and faiths. The Vice President of Campus Ministry is Fr. Philip Florio, and he strives to make Fordham a wonderful, spiritual community for all students.
               Last year was my first year being a member of a Christian Life Community (CLC). CLCs consist of 10-15 student-led groups of about 7-8 members each that join together each week and discuss three main pillars of mission, faith, and service. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to become closer to God and to learn more about others' faith. Being a part of a CLC has helped me to strengthen my faith in God.
              Also this year, I decided to become a part of other Campus Ministry activities. For instance, I have been volunteering biweekly at Sunday Mass as a Hospitality Minister, a Eucharistic Minister, and a Lector. Volunteering my time at Mass has been a rewarding experience; I was able to meet some wonderful people and am nourishing my faith by reading from Scripture and communicating with fellow churchgoers.
              Retreats are another amazing place to make friends and strengthen your faith in God. Last semester, I went on the Advent Reflections Retreat. An overnight retreat in Fordham's beautiful retreat house in Goshen, NY, the Advent Retreat was a time for community, spirituality, private and small group reflection, food, games, and other faith-building activities. Students can register for retreats throughout the semester by visiting the Campus Ministry website. Some other retreats include a free one-day retreat during the Lenten season on campus and a new weekend retreat called COR, which teaches participants how to discover God's love in all things.
