The internship search is anything and everything but enjoyable. On the bright side, at Fordham, we are in the epicenter of hundreds of different industries. No matter your area of interest, you are hard pressed to name a position you cannot find in New York City. The city provides endless opportunities, networking panels, workshops, and events. Some people see this type of openness as overwhelming. That is where the security of Fordham's career services can come into play. The career service workers will help you draft a resume and cover letter, acquire recommendations and an "elevator pitch", and even practice for the situational pressure of an interview.
As if that is not enough, Fordham students have interned and even been employed at companies/networks/etc. across the board. Your contacts and connections are all around you. In a world dependent on networking, having a reference is key, and on a campus as involved as Fordham, meeting someone for coffee to discuss their professional experiences is not a rare feat.
Once again, location, location, location is everything in preparing for post graduation, which is a big part (NOT ALL--but a big part) of college. You want to make sure that when you make a decision on which school you are going to attend, they have the sort of connections, in terms of their location, alumni status, and career service options, that interest you. I know it seems early to be thinking about post-graduation, but as anyone will tell you, it is never too early to dream. What do you want to do? You can make it happen, and Fordham wants to help!
